The Gray Field Recordings was formed by R. Loftiss, who creates music with a wide range of instruments... potentially anything that makes a sound. She is world-weary and believes that, in the end, talking animals will lead us home by the light of the moon.

She is often joined by violist David Salim and violinist Justin Jones. On her latest album, "Nature Desires Nature", she is also joined by musical luminaries Alan Trench (12000 Days, Temple Music), Frank Suchomel (Inalonelyplace, Language of Light), and Mike Seed (The Chasms). Her music has been described as "...a cohesive vision of folk, classical and experimental styles..." by the Unboken Circle and "totally original and...absolutely haunting" by New York Music Daily.

She has appeared on several compilations including Gold Leaf Branches (Foxglove/Digitalis), Lead into Gold (Rebis Records), and several Hermetic Library compilations. R. has collaborated with a number of artists including Ctephin, Anvil Salute, frogtoboggan, Spagirus, Techix, Inalonelyplace, Cousin Silas, Mike Seed, and Temple Music.
